Shirley Nicol­son, age 88, passed away in Tide­view Ter­race, Digby on April 25, 2017. Born in Do­min­ion, Cape Bre­ton on Au­gust 22, 1928, she was the daugh­ter of the late Mur­dock and Martha (Cald­well) MacPher­son.

Shirley was a won­der­ful wife, mother, grand­mother and great grand­mother. She was a mem­ber of the Grace United Church in Digby.

Shirley is sur­vived by her daugh­ter, Clau­dia (Mike) Lutz, Digby; sons, John and Don­ald Nicol­son, Hal­i­fax; grand­chil­dren, Lyssa (Stephen) McCart­ney, Dalmelling­ton, Scot­land, Craig Lutz (Christa), Lower Sackville, So­phie McCon­nell (Chris), Dart­mouth, great grand­chil­dren, Jack, Olivia and Oliver. Also sur­vived by brothers, Fred (Sydney) MacPher­son, Sur­rey, BC, Blair (Linda) MacPher­son, Sydney, NS, Don­ald MacPher­son, Ed­mon­ton, AB, and many nieces and neph­ews. Be­sides her par­ents, Shirley was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Weldon, and brother, Wal­lace MacPher­son.

There will be no vis­i­ta­tion by re­quest. Cre­ma­tion has taken place un­der the di­rec­tion of Jaynes Fu­neral Home, Digby. Fu­neral ser­vice will be at 2 p.m. on Fri­day, May 5 from Grace United Church in Digby. Rev. Alex Con­sta­ble will pre­side. In­ter­ment at a later date in For­est Haven Memo­rial Gar­dens, Sydney, Cape Bre­ton.
