It is with great sor­row we an­nounce the pass­ing, on Tues­day, May 2, 2017, of our fa­ther, grand­fa­ther, brother and un­cle, Ed­ward ‘Ned’ King.

Born on May 17, 1930 in Birch Grove, he was the son of the late Michael Knight and Mary Louise (Snow) King.

Ed­ward will be sadly missed by his wife, Gladys of 65 years on April 26,2017; daugh­ter, Lynn; son, Michael Ed­ward (Dar­lene); grand­sons, Bruce (Dawn) Dear­ing, Ja­son Boutilier and Michael King Jr; grand­daugh­ters, Krys­tal King (Shane) and Car­lynne Boutilier; great grand­chil­dren, Kiera, Brody Dear­ing and Lexie Boutilier and sis­ter, Laura Hayes.

Ed­ward was pre­de­ceased by his par­ents; four broth­ers, Al­bert, Wil­liam, Robert and Elmer; four sis­ters, Hazel His­cock, Ju­lia West­cott, Dorothy Reid and Mary Boone.

Ed­ward re­turned home to Cape Bre­ton af­ter work­ing twenty five years in the automotive in­dus­try for Acme Screw and Gear in Toronto, Ont. He re­tired in Birch Grove where he worked in his gar­den and garage.

In re­spect with Ed­ward’s wishes Cre­ma­tion has taken place un­der the care and di­rec­tion of Pat­ten Fu­neral Home, there will be no visi­ta­tion. A me­mo­rial ser­vice will take place at a later date.

Our fam­ily wishes to ex­press a sin­cere thank you to the doc­tors and nurses at the Port Hawkes­bury Guest Home, North­side Com­mu­nity Guest Home, Vic­to­ria Haven and the Glace Bay Hospi­tal, Dr. Kent Cade­gan and Brenda Mac­Don­ald.
