Syd­ney Mines

With great sad­ness we an­nounce the pass­ing of Ken­neth (Kenny) Fraser MacRae, 59, on Wed­nes­day, May 3, 2017 at the North­side Gen­eral Hospi­tal, after a coura­geous bat­tle with can­cer.

Born in Syd­ney Mines on Fe­bru­ary 5, 1958, Kenny was the son of the late Al­lis­ter and Florence (MacCharles) MacRae.

Kenny worked at Basin Con­tract­ing, Mar­tel’s Con­struc­tion, and Mu­nic­i­pal Ready Mix. He was a mem­ber of the Op­er­at­ing En­gi­neers Union, Lo­cal 721 for 40 years.

He is sur­vived by his wife, Mar­cella (White); his three sons, Ken­neth (Jill), Syd­ney Mines, Bradley (Melissa), Bay­side and Matthew (Ka­t­rina), Syd­ney Mines, and grand­chil­dren, Madi­son, Lily, Calle, Rachel, Kole, Ko­hen and Princess Char­lie, and an­other baby MacRae due in Novem­ber. Also left to mourn are his sis­ters, Mary Lee (Louis) Bernard, Libby (Sonny) Hen­der­son, and Linda (Mark Tous­sard); broth­ers, Don­ald and Wil­liam (Rose); and half-brother, Brian (Linda) MacDon­ald; sis­tersin-law, Peggy (Ron­nie), Hazel (Tommy), Thelma (David), Diane (Harry) and Deb­bie (Danny); broth­ers-in-law, Melvin (Mary) and Don­nie (Janny); nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews; grand-nieces; grand-neph­ews; spe­cial friends, Far­rell Con­fi­ant, Carol Hop­kins, David Marsh, Ross Crowdis, Norm Dut­ton and Wayne Strick­land and his spe­cial fur ba­bies, John Black and Baby.

Kenny was pre­de­ceased by his sis­ters, Bev­erly (James) Gouthro, Miriam (David) LeBlanc, Bar­bara and Sharon in in­fancy; brother-in-law, Char­lie White; mother-in-law, Annie White and fa­ther-in-law, “John Boss” White.

Visi­ta­tion for Kenny MacRae will be held in the J.M. Jobes Fu­neral Home, 635 Main St., Syd­ney Mines, on Sunday, May 2017, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

A cel­e­bra­tion of his life will take place Sunday, at 2 p.m. in the fu­neral home, with Dave MacKenna of­fi­ci­at­ing. Fam­ily flow­ers only.
