Information session on proposed Northside park
SYDNEY — The board of directors for the proposed Atlantic Memorial Park on the Northside will host a community presentation as well as a question and answer period on Thursday.
The session will take place at the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion in Sydney at 7 p.m. The session is open to all residents of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
The recommended site consists of about 120 acres of publicly owned land in Sydney Mines.
Along with a commemorative monument dedicated to the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the site would highlight significant Canadian military contributions, the history of the military, mining and steel. It would also include a First Nations replica encampment, a family park and beach and restored military fortifications.
