We are deeply sad­dened to an­nounce the passing of Ger­ald ‘Jed’ Mac­Don­ald (59), on May 5, 2017 at the Glace Bay Health Care Com­plex. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late San­ford and Mil­dred (Pyke) Mac Don­ald. He was em­ployed with Devco for 24 years and later with Traf­fic Con­trol/Con­struc­tion un­til his health de­clined.

Jed was a man who lived his life to the fullest and was a friend to all. His wife and chil­dren al­ways came first. He loved to watch and play hockey with his favourite team be­ing the Chicago Black Hawks, he was one of the orig­i­nal vol­un­teers of the Vince Ryan Tour­na­ment. His passion was a fish­ing rod and lake, he and Ade­line en­joyed their long drives through­out the is­land, es­pe­cially New Camp­bell­ton.

Jed leaves be­hind his lov­ing wife of 35 years, Ade­line; his chil­dren, Lenny (Lind­sey) MacInnis, Rhonda (James) Kel­loway, Gerry and Nikki (Benny Green); his grand­chil­dren, Nathan, Kee­gan, Con­nor, Ge­orge, John, Noah, Brody, Jess­lynn (his best friend) and Jae­dyn, and his pets, AJ and Ally.

He is also sur­vived by broth­ers, Ron­nie (Heather), Paul (Kaylee) and Robert (Rochelle); brother-in-law, Art (Felic­ity) McIn­nis; sis­ters, Mary (Kirby) and Marg (Robert), and many aunts/un­cles, nieces and neph­ews; best friends, Lorne (Michelle) MacIn­tyre and Ernie (Deb­bie) Pyke.

Jed was pre­de­ceased by his par­ents, fa­ther and mother-in­law, Leonard and Shirley Larkham, and broth­ers, Hank and Michael.

Jed would not want to be mourned but to be re­mem­bered with a smile. Ade­line and fam­ily would like to thank Dr. Spencer, 3rd floor Nurs­ing Staff at Glace Bay Hos­pi­tal and the Staff at the Re­nal Lab.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be held for the late Jed Mac Don­ald at TJ Tracey Funeral Home Memo­rial Chapel, 370 Re­serve Street, Glace Bay, 902-849-4199 on Tues­day, May 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. Funeral Ser­vices to fol­low at 11 a.m. with Fa­ther Nor­man Mac Phee of­fi­ci­at­ing.
