It is with great sad­ness that we, the fam­ily, an­nounce the pass­ing of Carol Marie Bour­geois, 69, sur­rounded by her lov­ing fam­ily on May 5, 2017 at the Hal­i­fax In­fir­mary.

Born in Syd­ney she was the daugh­ter of the late Arthur V. McKenna and Cather­ine McKil­lop.

Carol is sur­vived by her lov­ing hus­band of 49 years, Paul Bour­geois; chil­dren, Kim (Wade) Mor­rell; sis­ters, Cather­ine Filek, Syd­ney and Eilleen (Bill) Mac­Neil, Syd­ney; grand­chil­dren, Emile and Carolyn Mor­rell. She is also sur­vived by many spe­cial nieces, neph­ews and friends, es­pe­cially, Fran Fry, Geri (Shawn) Hud­son, and honorary grand­sons, Alexan­der and Ri­ley.

Be­sides her par­ents she was pre­de­ceased by nine half-sis­ters; sis­ter, Pauline MacRury; brother, Arthur McKenna; brother-in-law, Jim MacRury and Joe Fe­lik, and in­fant son, Paul Jr.

She met the love of her life in Whit­ney Pier en­joy­ing many dances at the Im­pe­rial Hall. From there her life cen­tered on fol­low­ing Paul to many Mil­i­tary bases through­out the Mar­itimes. Dur­ing this time she vol­un­teered with many or­ga­ni­za­tions and was a won­der­ful home­maker.

Vis­i­ta­tion for Carol will be held Thurs­day, May 11, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. at the SW Chant and Son Fu­neral Home, 564 Alexan­dra St., Syd­ney.

A Fu­neral Mass will be held Fri­day, May 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Redeemer Parish, Fa­ther Paul Mur­phy of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­tern­ment to take place at the Res­ur­rec­tion Ceme­tery, Syd­ney Forks.

In Lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foun­da­tion or Lung As­so­ci­a­tion.
