It is with bro­ken hearts that we an­nounce the peaceful pass­ing of Robert Jew­ells, age 76, on Thurs­day, May 11, 2017 at the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hospi­tal af­ter a lengthy ill­ness.

Born in Glace Bay and a for­mer res­i­dent of Port Morien, he was the el­dest son of Robert Harold and Su­san (MacDon­ald) Jew­ells.

Robert was a de­voted hus­band, fa­ther and grand­fa­ther who loved his fam­ily dearly. He re­tired from Devco Ma­chine Shop af­ter many years of ser­vice. He en­joyed spend­ing time with fam­ily and friends, read­ing and camp­ing. His love for camp­ing was passed on to his chil­dren; even dur­ing his ill­ness he en­joyed life and al­ways found a way to have a good time.

Robert is sur­vived by his wife of 52 years, Eileen (Lind); his daugh­ter, Roberta (Glen) Parsons; his son, Ray­mond (Ju­dith) Jew­ells; daugh­ter-in-law, Tanya Jew­ells; grand­chil­dren, Ryan (Car­rie), Re­becca Parsons, Ben and Amanda Jew­ells. Bobby will also be sadly missed by his de­voted pet dog, Raven. His grand­chil­dren were his pride and joy and he kept in touch with each of them on a daily ba­sis. Also sur­viv­ing are broth­ers, Er­rol, Terry (Jean), Lawrence (San­dra); sis­ters, Kath­leen, An­nette, Mary (Al­lan) Boettcher; sis­ter-in-law, Joan Jew­ells and many ex­tended fam­ily mem­bers.

Be­sides his par­ents, Bobby was pre­de­ceased by his son, Wil­liam Ed­ward “Billy” Jew­ells; broth­ers, Matthew, Ken­neth, Lewis; sis­terin-law, Linda Jew­ells; moth­erin-law, Jean (Leonard) Lind Ma­cLean and step fa­ther-in-law, Robert Ma­cLean.

Visi­ta­tion is Sun­day from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGil­livray Fu­neral Home, 16 Re­serve St., Glace Bay.

The fu­neral mass, of­fi­ci­ated by Fr. Leo Boone is Mon­day at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church fol­lowed by a reception in the church foyer. In­ter­ment is in For­est Haven Me­mo­rial Gar­dens.
