Syd­ney man fac­ing ad­di­tional drug charge

SYD­NEY — A Syd­ney man is back be­hind bars af­ter breach­ing the con­di­tions of his re­lease on drug charges by again sell­ing drugs. Robert Fran­cis Ben­nett, 49, and a fe­male co-ac­cused were charged April 3 with three counts of pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing in­volv­ing co­caine, mar­i­juana and hy­dro­mor­phone.

The of­fences are al­leged to have oc­curred at a res­i­dence on In­goville Street in Syd­ney. Both were re­leased on con­di­tions and are to en­ter pleas June 8.

Ben­nett was again charged May 12 with pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing in hy­dro­mor­phone af­ter po­lice searched a home on In­goville.

He is also charged with pos­ses­sion of an unau­tho­rized weapon (pep­per spray), two counts of pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty and five counts of breach­ing court or­ders. Among his pre­vi­ous re­lease con­di­tions, Ben­nett was or­dered to keep the peace and be of good be­hav­iour.

He is sched­uled back in court to­day.
