Poll workers sought
GLACE BAY — Individuals are being hired to work in the riding of Glace Bay during the May 30 provincial election.
Bob Cerovich, returning officer for the Glace Bay riding, said there are a number of positions to be filled including polls supervisor, deputy returning officer, polling officer and information officer.
Three hours of training will be provided and training begins on May 22.
He said ideally there will be about 120 people working the election in this riding. There will be seven polling stations in Glace Bay including St. Paul’s Church hall, Royal Canadian Legion branch 3, Glace Bay fire hall, St. Leo’s hall, Ring 73 and the former Bridgeport school.
He said along with 32 polls there are four mobile polls, which accommodate people at such places as the hospital and seniors residences.
“The (candidates) will provide transportation if needed but some people are incapacitated and can’t get in to vote so we’ll send a team out to their house.” Anyone wishing more information is asked to telephone the Glace Bay returning office at 1-844-831-6310.
