Poll work­ers sought

GLACE BAY — In­di­vid­u­als are be­ing hired to work in the rid­ing of Glace Bay dur­ing the May 30 pro­vin­cial elec­tion.

Bob Cerovich, re­turn­ing of­fi­cer for the Glace Bay rid­ing, said there are a num­ber of po­si­tions to be filled in­clud­ing polls su­per­vi­sor, deputy re­turn­ing of­fi­cer, polling of­fi­cer and in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cer.

Three hours of train­ing will be pro­vided and train­ing be­gins on May 22.

He said ide­ally there will be about 120 peo­ple work­ing the elec­tion in this rid­ing. There will be seven polling sta­tions in Glace Bay in­clud­ing St. Paul’s Church hall, Royal Cana­dian Le­gion branch 3, Glace Bay fire hall, St. Leo’s hall, Ring 73 and the for­mer Bridge­port school.

He said along with 32 polls there are four mo­bile polls, which ac­com­mo­date peo­ple at such places as the hospi­tal and se­niors res­i­dences.

“The (can­di­dates) will pro­vide trans­porta­tion if needed but some peo­ple are in­ca­pac­i­tated and can’t get in to vote so we’ll send a team out to their house.” Any­one wish­ing more in­for­ma­tion is asked to tele­phone the Glace Bay re­turn­ing of­fice at 1-844-831-6310.
