DOUCETTE, George Brian
It is with profound sadness that the family of George Brian Doucette, 67, the son of the late Henry and Greta Doucette (MacLean) announce his passing on May 16, 2017 at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by his family. George is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
George leaves behind his soulmate and best friend of 47 years, Dorothy (Snook); sons, Brian and James; four grandchildren, Brooklyn Shaw, Lucas Jackson, Kash and Kaylum Cronie; also left to mourn his passing are his extended family; family by marriage, but who loved George, more as a brother than a brother-in-law, the Snook family, Brenda Simmons Snook (Mark Appleton), Cheryl Campbell Snook, Jim Snook (Bev.), Sheldon Snook (Helen MacDonald), Rhonda MacMullin (Steve); special brothers-inlaw, Dave Simmons and Jack Campbell; special niece who he loved like a daughter, Melissa Simmons-Snow (Billy Gracie); great nephew, Brett Snow; besides many nieces and nephews too many too mention, he loved them all and their visits.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brothers, Michael and Henry; sisters, Marie and Barbara Ann in infancy; father-in-law, Steve; brothers-in-law, Stevie and Kevin Snook. George was liked by all who knew him and his nonjudgmental ways, his quick wit and one-liners. He always loved and accepted people for who they were, never what they had.
There will be no visitation as per George’s request.
Cremation has taken place under the directions of Patten Funeral Home.
There will be a private get together held at George’s residence (4 Morriseville St.) on May 18, 2017 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to offer condolences and share memories of George with the family.
