Ac­cused charged in two armed rob­beries.

SYD­NEY — A 58-year-old Syd­ney Mines woman will have a bail hear­ing Tues­day af­ter be­ing charged in con­nec­tion with two armed rob­beries. Linda Dar­lene MacKin­non of King Street is charged with two counts of armed rob­bery (in­volv­ing a knife), two counts of as­sault and sin­gle counts of ut­ter­ing a threat and forcible en­try.

Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Po­lice re­port that around 2 p.m. Thurs­day, a res­i­dent of an apart­ment build­ing on King Street re­ported a woman had come to door, bran­dish­ing a knife, and de­mand­ing money. The sus­pect then fled on foot in the di­rec­tion of Main Street.

A short time later, po­lice re­ceived another call of an armed rob­bery at the busi­ness on Main Street and ar­rested a fe­male sus­pect found run­ning up King Street with a knife. Po­lice did re­cover a knife and stolen goods found in the pos­ses­sion of the sus­pect. No in­juries were re­port.

Af­ter a brief pro­vin­cial court ap­pear­ance Fri­day, MacKin­non was re­manded for the long weekend and is to ap­pear back in court Tues­day for a bail hear­ing.
