Accused charged in two armed robberies.
SYDNEY — A 58-year-old Sydney Mines woman will have a bail hearing Tuesday after being charged in connection with two armed robberies. Linda Darlene MacKinnon of King Street is charged with two counts of armed robbery (involving a knife), two counts of assault and single counts of uttering a threat and forcible entry.
Cape Breton Regional Police report that around 2 p.m. Thursday, a resident of an apartment building on King Street reported a woman had come to door, brandishing a knife, and demanding money. The suspect then fled on foot in the direction of Main Street.
A short time later, police received another call of an armed robbery at the business on Main Street and arrested a female suspect found running up King Street with a knife. Police did recover a knife and stolen goods found in the possession of the suspect. No injuries were report.
After a brief provincial court appearance Friday, MacKinnon was remanded for the long weekend and is to appear back in court Tuesday for a bail hearing.
