Bail hearing set for Bay St. Lawrence accused
SYDNEY — A Cape Breton man charged with multiple breach offences is to return to provincial court Thursday for a bail hearing.
Rocky Daniel Buchanan, 38, of Bay St. Lawrence, is charged with 27 offences after making contact with his ex-wife that resulted in an altercation with two RCMP officers. Buchanan is charged with 16 counts of breaching court orders including contacting his ex-wife and failing to keep the peace and be of good behavior. He is also charged with seven counts of uttering threats including threatening to kill an RCMP officer and his family, threatening to burn down an officer’s home and threatening to burn down RCMP officers homes and the detachment in Ingonish and Dingwall.
He is also charged with two counts of assault, including to his ex-wife and a police officer along with a single count of aggravated assault involving a police officer and a charge of mischief relating to damage to a police vehicle. Buchanan was released from custody in January on conditions that included he have no contact with his ex-wife.
