North Syd­ney man fac­ing two sex of­fences

SYD­NEY — A 47-year-old North Syd­ney man is to re­turn to pro­vin­cial court in June to en­ter pleas on charges that in­clude sex of­fences.

Charles Plow­man is charged with two counts of sex­ual as­sault and a sin­gle count of as­sault. The of­fences in­volve a fe­male com­plainant and are al­leged to have oc­curred be­tween May 16-19 in North Syd­ney.

Plow­man was re­leased from cus­tody Fri­day af­ter post­ing $5,500 bail in both prop­erty and cash. Among the con­di­tions of his re­lease, Plow­man is to live in Syd­ney Mines and have no con­tact with the com­plainant.

He is also not al­lowed to pos­sess any weapons and must re­frain from al­co­hol and drugs not pre­scribed to him by a physi­cian. He is also to abide by a cur­few and re­port to Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Po­lice by phone, once a week.

He is now to re­turn to court June 21 for plea.
