Cana­dian Mul­ti­cul­tur­al­ism Day com­ing to CBU, June 27

On June 27, the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Mu­nic­i­pal­ity’s recre­ation de­part­ment and Cape Bre­ton Univer­sity will be pre­sent­ing Mul­ti­cul­tur­al­ism Day, cel­e­brat­ing Cape Bre­ton’s di­verse mul­ti­cul­tural fab­ric.

The event will fea­ture mu­sic, food, fire­works, and cul­tural per­for­mances. The event will be held at CBU from 6-9:30pm. The project is funded in part by the Gov­ern­ment of Canada and is a pil­lar of Canada 150 cel­e­bra­tions in the CBRM.

As part of the Mul­ti­cul­tur­al­ism Day cel­e­bra­tion, the com­mit­tee is now ac­cept­ing sub­mis­sions for per­form­ers and groups that wish to par­tic­i­pate in the event.

Artists of the­atre, mu­sic, and dance are in­vited to pro­vide a sam­ple of work and an out­line of 150 words or less that in­di­cates how the per­for­mance demon­strates a cel­e­bra­tion of mul­ti­cul­tur­al­ism. Sub­mis­sions will be juried, with those se­lected per­form­ing on the main stage along­side Cape Bre­ton blue­grass/folk mu­sic band Pretty Archie.

To sub­mit your per­for­mance for con­sid­er­a­tion, email the sam­ple of work and out­line to recre­ation@cbrm.ns.ca no later than 4 p.m. on Fri­day, June 9.
