Canadian Multiculturalism Day coming to CBU, June 27
On June 27, the Cape Breton Regional Municipality’s recreation department and Cape Breton University will be presenting Multiculturalism Day, celebrating Cape Breton’s diverse multicultural fabric.
The event will feature music, food, fireworks, and cultural performances. The event will be held at CBU from 6-9:30pm. The project is funded in part by the Government of Canada and is a pillar of Canada 150 celebrations in the CBRM.
As part of the Multiculturalism Day celebration, the committee is now accepting submissions for performers and groups that wish to participate in the event.
Artists of theatre, music, and dance are invited to provide a sample of work and an outline of 150 words or less that indicates how the performance demonstrates a celebration of multiculturalism. Submissions will be juried, with those selected performing on the main stage alongside Cape Breton bluegrass/folk music band Pretty Archie.
To submit your performance for consideration, email the sample of work and outline to email@example.com no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, June 9.
