High­landers to con­duct fir­ing prac­tice at Vic­to­ria Park

SYD­NEY — The Cape Bre­ton High­landers will con­duct fir­ing prac­tice on two sep­a­rate oc­ca­sions this week at Vic­to­ria Park.

The first will be Wed­nes­day from 4-8 p.m., fol­lowed by the sec­ond on Fri­day from 4-8 p.m. Sol­diers will con­duct these drills with blank rounds. No live rounds will be used.

The High­landers ad­vise that there will be an in­crease in noise lev­els as a re­sult of the drills and res­i­dents will likely hear rounds be­ing fired in the vicin­ity of Vic­to­ria Park dur­ing the prac­tice ses­sions.

The fir­ing drills are part of the Cape Bre­ton High­landers train­ing prepa­ra­tion for up­com­ing cer­e­mo­nial du­ties.
