Fire in Sydney apartment building forces tenants out
SYDNEY — Six adults have been temporarily displaced by a fire late Monday in Sydney.
The fire was quickly contained to one unit but sent smoke into other areas of a wood-frame house containing several apartments in downtown Sydney. Disaster volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross arranged emergency lodging, food and other basics for four adults. The other two are staying with relatives or friends. There were no injuries from the fire, reported around 11 p.m. Monday in the three-storey structure at 289 Bentinck Street.
