Bail hearings today for break and enter accused

Four people charged in relation to a break-in and theft at a private residence are to return to court today for bail hearings, with some of the accused facing additional charges.

The four are charged in connection with a break-in Sunday at a home in Sydney Mines. The accused and the complainan­ts are known to each other. The residents of the home, a 44-year-old male and 33-yearold female, suffered minor injuries.

The break-in occurred at a home on Barrington Street at approximat­ely 4:30 a.m.

Charged are brothers David Angus Forrest, 35, of Caribou Marsh Road, and Michael Cory Forrest, 32, of Crescent Street, Sydney Mines.

David Angus Forrest is charged with break, enter and theft, assault and breaching a court order.

At the time of the incident, Forrest was on release conditions from unrelated offences that include 11 counts of breaching court orders and five counts of theft involving retail outlets. The offences are to have occurred between December 2016 and April 2017.

Michael Cory Forrest is charged with three counts of mischief relating to property damage (a cellphone, door and stove), four counts of breaching court orders and single counts of break, enter and theft, assault with a weapon (an axe), possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and uttering a threat. He was also on conditions at the time involving unrelated offences.

Also charged is Ashley Marie Keagan, 33, of Caribou Marsh Road, who is charged with break, enter and theft, assault and breaching a court order.

She is also facing unrelated offences of three count of theft involving retail outlets.

The fourth accused is Mary Jolene Gillard, 18, of Florence, who is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property (medication­s and food), and single counts of break and enter, robbery (medication­s), and breaching a court order.
