MACLEOD, William ‘Bill’ Gregory

-

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Bill MacLeod, announce his passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on July 23, 2017.

Born in Sydney Mines on July 28, 1954 he was the only child of the late John and Audrey MacLeod. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Bill was a fisherman for 32 years, and then worked as a truck driver for Loch Breagh Construction until his illness. He was a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, terrible at darts and spent leisure time hunting and fishing.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Lettice; children, Alicia, Stephanie (Cory Howell), Jennifer (John), Matthew (Kyleen); grandchildren, Emma and Sophie; father-in-law, Daniel Lettice; brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Dawna), Greg and Darrell; sister-in-law, Jean Marie, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his best friend, Charles Bennett, and his constant and loyal companion, Jersey.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-inlaw, Bernadette Lettice.

Celebration of Bill’s life will take place on Wednesday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at the Ross Ferry Fire Hall, Ross Ferry.

We wish to extend our most sincere thanks to those who have helped Bill on his journey, especially the team at the Cape Breton Cancer Center, the VON, and the Palliative Care staff.

Donations in memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center Patient Care Fund.

Messages and memorials may be directed to Bill’s family by visiting www.chantfuneralhome.ca.

“I won’t immortalize you in the stars,

Because they fade away. I won’t remember you with a poem,

For it will be forgotten one day. I will just keep you safe in my heart,

So that you are with me in every way...”

On July 29, 2017 family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Greg Vassallo, formerly of Dominion, who passed away in Mexico in February. The celebration will be at the home of his niece, Tricia MacNeil, 234 Mitchell Ave., Dominion. Join us at 2 p.m. for a memorial service to honour Greg and to share stories of a life lived to the fullest.
