On this date in 1886, avi­a­tion pi­o­neer J.A.D. McCurdy, who flew the Sil­ver Dart at Bad­deck, in 1909, was born. Also on this date in 1922, tele­phone in­ven­tor Alexan­der Gra­ham Bell died in Bad­deck, at age 75. Bell was present when McCurdy flew the Sil­ver Dart from the frozen ice of the Bras d’Or Lake.
