Help needed to solve crime

SYDNEY — Po­lice are look­ing for the pub­lic’s help to solve a break, en­ter and theft at the Mem­ber­tou pub­lic works com­pound ear­lier this month.

On July 12, Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Po­lice re­sponded to a com­plaint at the pub­lic works com­pound at 1559 Gabarus High­way. The break-in oc­curred some­time overnight July 11-12.

The sus­pects en­tered the com­pound by break­ing into a job trailer on site and stole the front gate key. The sus­pects en­tered nu­mer­ous trail­ers, ve­hi­cles and a shed, dam­ag­ing the door. Stolen were a 6,500-watt King Canada gen­er­a­tor, a small truck bat­tery and a 2014 blue Ford F-150 crew cab truck owned by Mem­ber­tou Nat­u­ral Re­sources. The truck was later re­cov­ered at Green­link Ro­tary Park trail sys­tem on Churchill Drive, but a cell­phone and GPS were stolen from the ve­hi­cle. The cell­phone was later re­cov­ered in Mem­ber­tou.
