Help needed to solve crime
SYDNEY — Police are looking for the public’s help to solve a break, enter and theft at the Membertou public works compound earlier this month.
On July 12, Cape Breton Regional Police responded to a complaint at the public works compound at 1559 Gabarus Highway. The break-in occurred sometime overnight July 11-12.
The suspects entered the compound by breaking into a job trailer on site and stole the front gate key. The suspects entered numerous trailers, vehicles and a shed, damaging the door. Stolen were a 6,500-watt King Canada generator, a small truck battery and a 2014 blue Ford F-150 crew cab truck owned by Membertou Natural Resources. The truck was later recovered at Greenlink Rotary Park trail system on Churchill Drive, but a cellphone and GPS were stolen from the vehicle. The cellphone was later recovered in Membertou.
