Bail hear­ing set for Syd­ney Mines woman on mur­der charge

SYD­NEY — A Syd­ney Mines woman charged with sec­ond­de­gree mur­der in re­la­tion to the death of her for­mer part­ner is to re­turn to Supreme Court next week for a bail hear­ing.

Kim­berly Ann O’Dea, 35, of Ox­ford Av­enue, is charged with sec­ond-de­gree mur­der and crim­i­nal neg­li­gence caus­ing death.

The charges were filed af­ter a July 14 in­ci­dent in which Dana Marie Jes­some, 28, of McKean Street, Syd­ney Mines, was killed af­ter be­ing struck by a ve­hi­cle on Ox­ford Av­enue in Syd­ney Mines.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred at 7 a.m. and po­lice al­lege it was O’Dea who was the driver of the ve­hi­cle that struck Jes­some. O’Dea, who con­tin­ues to be on re­mand, is now sched­uled to have a bail hear­ing Aug. 11.
