Beach cleanups today
ACAP Cape Breton is hosting a beach cleanup today at Dominion Beach and Big Glace Bay Beach as well as Indian Beach on the Northside.
“People are asking about the cleanups and where they are and if we need help,” said Caitlyn O’Brien, education co-ordinator at ACAP Cape Breton.
“We are expecting a good turnout at each location.”
The cleanup is a Scotia Heritage and Marine Stewardship project put on by the Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation in partnership with ACAP.
The cleanups will begin at Dominion Beach at 1 p.m. and at Big Glace Bay Beach at 3 p.m. “We’ve had a lot of interest shown, we’ve received a lot of calls from residents … excited about these cleanups we’re doing in the communities because they are great for the environment,” she said. “It’s also really good for people to get out and give back to their community.”
