Ron Stephenson passed away in Calgary, AB on January 10, 2017, at the age of 67, after a long and courageous battle with kidney failure.
Ron was born in New Waterford on February 6, 1949, son of Fidelis (Dally) and Florence (McKenzie) Stephenson.
In 1968, Ron moved to Calgary where he became a machinist and millwright, and worked for many years at Canadian Pacific Railway and Westroc Industries.
Ron had an exceptional work ethic and a strong and determined personality that shielded his warm and generous heart. He cherished his children and for many years served as a volunteer coach for their baseball team.
Ron loved his family, his work, and sports; especially playing recreational hockey.
Ron is survived by two daughters, Tracey Nimetz (Jody) and Julie Stork (David); their mother, Patti, all of Kelowna, BC, and son, MacKenzie, of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by his brothers, Father Bill, Paul (Terry) and Edward, all of Calgary, Arthur, of Pincher Creek, AB, Michael (Marilla), of Eastern Passage, NS, Fidel (Ann), David (Anna), Pius (Gail), of New Waterford and New Victoria; sisters, Carmel (Jack) Coffin, of Sydney, Brenda (George) Stephenson and Bernadette (Wally), of Cole Harbour, NS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Thomas, as a young child.
A memorial Mass for Ron will be held at St. Leonard’s Church, New Waterford, on Saturday, August 5, at 10 a.m., 3180 Mount Carmel Ave., New Waterford.
