Ron Stephen­son passed away in Cal­gary, AB on Jan­uary 10, 2017, at the age of 67, af­ter a long and coura­geous bat­tle with kid­ney fail­ure.

Ron was born in New Water­ford on Fe­bru­ary 6, 1949, son of Fidelis (Dally) and Florence (McKen­zie) Stephen­son.

In 1968, Ron moved to Cal­gary where he be­came a ma­chin­ist and mill­wright, and worked for many years at Cana­dian Pa­cific Rail­way and We­stroc In­dustries.

Ron had an ex­cep­tional work ethic and a strong and de­ter­mined per­son­al­ity that shielded his warm and gen­er­ous heart. He cher­ished his chil­dren and for many years served as a vol­un­teer coach for their base­ball team.

Ron loved his fam­ily, his work, and sports; es­pe­cially play­ing recre­ational hockey.

Ron is sur­vived by two daugh­ters, Tracey Nimetz (Jody) and Julie Stork (David); their mother, Patti, all of Kelowna, BC, and son, MacKenzie, of Cal­gary, AB. He is also sur­vived by his brothers, Fa­ther Bill, Paul (Terry) and Ed­ward, all of Cal­gary, Arthur, of Pincher Creek, AB, Michael (Mar­illa), of Eastern Pas­sage, NS, Fidel (Ann), David (Anna), Pius (Gail), of New Water­ford and New Vic­to­ria; sis­ters, Carmel (Jack) Cof­fin, of Syd­ney, Brenda (Ge­orge) Stephen­son and Ber­nadette (Wally), of Cole Har­bour, NS, and nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews.

He was pre­de­ceased by his par­ents, and a brother, Thomas, as a young child.

A memo­rial Mass for Ron will be held at St. Leonard’s Church, New Water­ford, on Saturday, Au­gust 5, at 10 a.m., 3180 Mount Carmel Ave., New Water­ford.
