Sen­tence im­posed on theft and breach of­fences

SYD­NEY — A Syd­ney Mines man has been sen­tenced on charges of theft and breach­ing court or­ders and is to re­turn to court in Novem­ber for a trial on other charges. Shaun Alan Mitche­li­tis, 31, pleaded guilty to four counts of breach­ing court or­ders and a sin­gle count of theft.

He was cred­ited with serv­ing 150 days on re­mand and must now com­plete a two-year pro­ba­tion pe­riod. Among the con­di­tions of his pro­ba­tion, Mitche­li­tis is not al­lowed to pos­sess or con­sumer al­co­hol or drugs not pre­scribed him by a physi­cian. He is also not al­lowed in any liquor store in Nova Sco­tia and must pay resti­tu­tion in the amount of $164.97.

Mitche­li­tis is now to re­turn to pro­vin­cial court in Novem­ber to stand trial on un­re­lated of­fences that in­clude drug traf­fick­ing.
