Plea date set for New Haven man on as­sault and weapon of­fences

SYD­NEY — A 24-year-old Vic­to­ria County man is to re­turn to pro­vin­cial court later this month to en­ter pleas on weapon and as­sault charges. Kyle Gran­ter of New Haven is charged with using a firearm in com­mit­ting an of­fence (ut­ter­ing a threat), care­less use of a firearm, point­ing a firearm, as­sault, care­less stor­age of a firearm, un­law­ful con­fine­ment and two counts of ut­ter­ing threats. The weapon in­volved is a .20-gauge shot­gun. The of­fences are al­leged to have oc­curred be­tween March and July in New Haven. Gran­ter has been re­leased on a host of con­di­tions that in­clude he have no con­tact with the male and fe­male com­plainants in the case, he re­port by phone, once a week, to RCMP, he stay out of Neils Har­bour, and sur­ren­ders all firearm cer­tifi­cates. He is also to live in Gabarus.

Gran­ter is now sched­uled to en­ter pleas Aug. 29.
