The Glace Bay McDon­ald’s Colonels fell to 1-3 at the 2017 Canadian Lit­tle League Cham­pi­onship in Medicine Hat, Alta., fol­low­ing a 14-7 loss to Mirabel Di­a­mond Academy of Que­bec on Mon­day. Mirabel broke the game open with nine runs in their half of the fourth in­ning. Ryan Ellsworth had a dou­ble and two sin­gles, Hud­son Clarke had two hits and Brady Doucette hit a home run. Doucette took the loss, com­ing into the game in the fourth in relief of starter Daw­son Byrne. The Colonels posted a 10-0 vic­tory over the Regina Ki­wa­nis Na­tion­als on Sun­day, but suf­fered a 15-6 de­feat to White Rock, B.C., on Satur­day. They’re back in ac­tion to­day at 2 p.m. At­lantic time against the Port Arthur Na­tion­als of On­tario.

Soon­ers win­less in Leth­bridge

At the ju­nior na­tion­als in Leth­bridge, Alta., the Syd­ney Soon­ers dropped a 12-2 de­ci­sion to the Oakville White­caps of On­tario to finish the round robin 0-5. Con­nor Camp­bell had the lone hit for Syd­ney, while Cole Stevens took the loss. The Soon­ers con­clude play with a con­so­la­tion game against the NDG Lynx of Que­bec on Wed­nes­day at 10 p.m. At­lantic time.
