SOONERS SWEEP WILDCATS
The Sydney Sooners completed a two-game sweep of the Kentville Wildcats with an 11-1 win on Saturday at Susan McEachern Memorial Ball Park. Jordon Shepherd (above) launched a three-run homer to end the game in the eighth inning, while Josh Forrest hit three singles. Garrett Nicholson pitched the win, with Logan Aker entering the game in relief in the seventh. In the series opener on Friday, Sydney won, 4-3. Reilly O’Rourke picked up the win in relief of Sheldon MacDonald, who pitched seven innings. Devin Mahoney hit two singles for Sydney. The Sooners improve to 16-4 for first place and hit the road this weekend to take on the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry on Saturday at 3 p.m., and face the Halifax Pelham Molson Canadians for a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m.
