Police arrest Glace Bay man after attempted nighttime vehicle entries
GLACE BAY — A Glace Bay man will face charges of trespassing by night and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after some attempted vehicle entries early Monday morning. The 25-year-old was arrested just after 1 a.m. after police responded to reports of a person walking around the MacDougall Street area of Glace Bay and checking door handles.
Cape Breton Regional Police officers patrolled the area and quickly located a man matching witness descriptions and he was arrested without incident.
The man was later released on a promise to appear in Sydney provincial court on Sept. 27.
In light of the incident, police are reminding residents to take the necessary precautions to help prevent such crimes of opportunity. Their advice includes locking your doors and removing valuables from your vehicles or moving valuables out of plain sight.
