Po­lice ar­rest Glace Bay man af­ter at­tempted night­time ve­hi­cle en­tries

GLACE BAY — A Glace Bay man will face charges of tres­pass­ing by night and pos­ses­sion of a weapon for a dan­ger­ous pur­pose af­ter some at­tempted ve­hi­cle en­tries early Mon­day morn­ing. The 25-year-old was ar­rested just af­ter 1 a.m. af­ter po­lice re­sponded to re­ports of a per­son walk­ing around the Mac­Dougall Street area of Glace Bay and check­ing door han­dles.

Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Po­lice of­fi­cers pa­trolled the area and quickly lo­cated a man match­ing wit­ness de­scrip­tions and he was ar­rested with­out in­ci­dent.

The man was later re­leased on a prom­ise to ap­pear in Syd­ney pro­vin­cial court on Sept. 27.

In light of the in­ci­dent, po­lice are re­mind­ing res­i­dents to take the nec­es­sary pre­cau­tions to help pre­vent such crimes of op­por­tu­nity. Their ad­vice in­cludes lock­ing your doors and re­mov­ing valu­ables from your ve­hi­cles or mov­ing valu­ables out of plain sight.
