Plaque to be unveiled today
SYDNEY – A commemorative plaque will be unveiled today at the Melting Pot Monument in Whitney Pier at 2 p.m. Representatives from Parks Canada, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada, and the Whitney Pier Historical Society will be on hand. The ceremony marks the national historic significance of the development of Whitney Pier, once considered to be the most ethnically diverse community east of Montreal. The Melting Pot Monument is adjacent to the old fire hall on Victoria Road near Neville Park.
