Trial date as­signed to Syd­ney man fac­ing as­sault, drug charges

SYD­NEY — A Syd­ney man was as­signed a trial date Wed­nes­day on drug and as­sault charges.

David Joseph Goyan, 42, of Dorch­ester Street, is charged with pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing (in­volv­ing hy­dro­mor­phone) that al­legedly oc­curred April 6 in Syd­ney.

He is also fac­ing charges of as­sault­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer, car­ry­ing a weapon dan­ger­ous to pub­lic peace (a metal pipe), and breach­ing a court or­der. The of­fences al­legedly oc­curred May 4 in Syd­ney.

Goyan en­tered not guilty pleas and was as­signed a trial date of April 9. He con­tin­ues his re­lease on con­di­tions.
