John Mayer pays tribute to Glen Camp­bell

NASHVILLE — John Mayer paid tribute to Glen Camp­bell Tues­day night dur­ing a con­cert in Nashville, Tenn., hours af­ter the coun­try mu­sic leg­end died in the city.

Fan video shows Mayer per­form­ing an acous­tic ver­sion “Gen­tle on My Mind,’’ a hit for Camp­bell re­leased in 1968.

Mayer in­tro­duced the cover as his “favourite song in the world.’’ He told the au­di­ence he was play­ing it with more “love than pre­ci­sion,’’ but added he wanted to make sure he played it on the day Camp­bell died.

Haun, Daigle top Dove Awards nom­i­na­tions

NEW YORK — Pro­duc­er­song­writer Wayne Haun, singer­song­writer Lauren Daigle and rock singer Zach Wil­liams are the top nom­i­nees at the 2017 GMA Dove Awards hon­our­ing gospel and Chris­tian mu­sic.

The Gospel Mu­sic As­so­ci­a­tion an­nounced Wed­nes­day that Haun is nom­i­nated for six awards, fol­lowed by Daigle, Wil­liams and song­writ­ers Bernie Herms and David Gar­cia, who earned five nom­i­na­tions each.
