MIXED RESULTS FOR WRESTLERS
Nova Scotia’s women’s wrestling team picked up a pair of wins on Thursday in the team event at the 2017 Canada Games in Winnipeg, but lost to New Brunswick 33-14 in the final round. Earlier in the day, Nova Scotia edged Manitoba 25-24 in points, and then got past Newfoundland and Labrador, 33-25. Late Wednesday, they defeated Nunavut, 49-0. Jade Wilkie of Cape North (above) won her matches in each of her team’s victories. Wilkie will be in individual competition today in the up to 48 kg female division. In women’s softball, Nova Scotia picked up its first win with an 8-3 victory over Newfoundland and Labrador. Shortstop Brooke Hawley of Port Hood wasn’t in the lineup. Nova Scotia concludes play today at 1 p.m. Atlantic time versus Prince Edward Island.
