Nova Sco­tia’s women’s wrestling team picked up a pair of wins on Thurs­day in the team event at the 2017 Canada Games in Win­nipeg, but lost to New Brunswick 33-14 in the fi­nal round. Ear­lier in the day, Nova Sco­tia edged Man­i­toba 25-24 in points, and then got past New­found­land and Labrador, 33-25. Late Wed­nes­day, they de­feated Nu­navut, 49-0. Jade Wilkie of Cape North (above) won her matches in each of her team’s vic­to­ries. Wilkie will be in in­di­vid­ual com­pe­ti­tion to­day in the up to 48 kg fe­male divi­sion. In women’s softball, Nova Sco­tia picked up its first win with an 8-3 vic­tory over New­found­land and Labrador. Short­stop Brooke Haw­ley of Port Hood wasn’t in the lineup. Nova Sco­tia con­cludes play to­day at 1 p.m. At­lantic time ver­sus Prince Ed­ward Is­land.
