May­weather-McGre­gor show­down to have live the­atre broad­cast

TORONTO — A much-hyped show­down be­tween box­ing champ Floyd May­weather Jr. and UFC su­per­star Conor McGre­gor is get­ting the big screen treat­ment. Cine­plex says it will present the su­per wel­ter­weight con­test live on­screen in the­atres across the coun­try Aug. 26. “May­weather vs. McGre­gor” is a 12-round bout that will pit the box­ing and MMA gi­ants against each other for the first time.

The bat­tle is set to take place in Las Ve­gas and will cap a four-city tour that re­cently brought the duo to Toronto. The match is be­ing billed as “the big­gest fight in com­bat sport his­tory.” The 29-yearold McGre­gor is the reign­ing light­weight cham­pion, while the 40-year-old May­weather came out of re­tire­ment to put his per­fect 49-0 record on the line.
