Richmond Villa, St. Peters after a ten year battle with progressive supranuclear palsy.
Marie left Glencoe Station in her late teens; she lived and worked in Toronto, Boston, San Francisco and Detroit, and returned to Cape Breton to work in the offices of Sydney Steel and later Stora Forest Industries, Point Tupper from where she retired after 25 years.
She is survived by her brothers, John Donald (Rose), Judique and Alex, Sydney, D.A., North Sydney, Cyril (Claire), Fall River; sister-in-law, Angela Cameron, Ajax, ON; sister, Jessie (Reggie) Daye, Craigmore; sons, Ray Cameron, Hillsborough and Dana MacLean, Windsor; beloved grandchildren, Alec MacLean, Truro and Jadea MacNeil, Port Hawkesbury; nieces, Kate Cameron, Toronto, Michelle Cameron, Halifax, Debbie Shadlock, Newmarket, Judy (Glen) MacNeil, Tecumseh, ON and Tara Beaton (Doug Hreceniuk ), Kitchener, ON; nephews, Cameron Beaton, St. John’s, NL, Lorne Beaton, Etobicoke, ON and Stuart (Pauline) Cameron, Toronto, and three grandnieces, Riley, Breagh and Madison.
Marie was predeceased by brother, John Allan and former husband, (and forever friend) Fabian MacLean.
Special thanks to the staff of Richmond Villa and Heritage House, Port Hood for the excellent care given to Marie, you are all angels in disguise. Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be offered Monday August 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Creignish with Rev. Hugh D. MacDonald presiding. Burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stella Maris Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice.
