Au­di­tion call for tiny dancer

GLACE BAY — The cast of the Savoy The­atre’s 2017 pro­duc­tion of “The Nutcracker” is one small dancer away from be­ing ready to be­gin re­hearsals for the 125-year-old bal­let. Di­rec­tors of the third-an­nual show at the Savoy in Glace Bay will hold a one-time au­di­tion in hopes of find­ing “one tiny dancer” with a stage age of be­tween five and seven years. Dancers with a min­i­mum of one year of bal­let classes are in­vited to try out for the role at North­side Dance Un­lim­ited, 9 Church St., Florence, Thurs­day from 6-7 p.m.

Those au­di­tion­ing must wear a dark leo­tard or body­suit, pink tights and bal­let shoes and hair must be off the face in a tight bal­let bun.

The suc­cess­ful dancer must also be avail­able for weekly re­hearsals start­ing in Septem­ber in Florence and for the ac­tual show dates at the Savoy in De­cem­ber.
