Water main upgrades in Sydney, Sydney Mines begin Monday
SYDNEY — Water main upgrades across the Cape Breton Regional Municipality will continue on Monday with construction work in Sydney and Sydney Mines. In Sydney, the CBRM water utility will begin phase two of construction on Ankerville Street, between Rotary Drive and Cromarty Street in Sydney.
This phase includes water main upgrades and road rebuild in the affected area. Delays can be expected and drivers may want to use an alternate route when possible.
In Sydney Mines, work will begin Monday at 7 a.m. and see the start of water main upgrades at the Main Street and Pond Road intersection in Sydney Mines.
Upon completion, this project will continue towards the intersection of Main Street and Diggin Street and will later continue with water main replacement for the entire length of Diggin Street. Motorists along this route can expect traffic delays throughout the day. Phase one of the project is expected to take approximately four weeks. Appropriate signage and traffic control personnel will be in place for the duration of the disruption.
