Fes­ti­val fun at park

Fifth an­nual Acous­tic Roots per­form­ers an­nounced

The Acous­tic Roots Fes­ti­val or­ga­niz­ers have an­nounced the per­form­ers for its fifth an­nual event to be held Sept. 1-3 at Two Rivers Wildlife Park.

The list of per­form­ers tak­ing to the stage for Acous­tic Roots 2017 features fan favourites and some emerg­ing artists. Per­form­ers in­clude: Adam Young, Aly­cia Put­nam, Colin Grant, Crowdis Bridge, Dar­rell Keigan, Don­nie Camp­bell, Dwayne Cote, Gil­lian Head, Ja­son Mac­Don­ald, Ja­son Price, Joe Gillis, John Cur­tis Samp­son, Kim Dunn, Kyle Mac­Don­ald, the cast of Lyrics and Laugh­ter, MacArthur Dancers, Makayla Lynn, Mi’kmaq Singers and Dancers, Pretty Archie, Robert Bouchard and Ryan Roberts.

Mu­si­cal work­shops fea­tur­ing step-danc­ing, fid­dling and song­writ­ing, will also be held dur­ing the fes­ti­val.

Co­in­cid­ing with the fes­ti­val week­end, the park will also be host­ing the an­nual horse show.

Acous­tic Roots per­for­mances be­gin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 1 with an 11 a.m. start on Sept. 2 and Sept. 3.

The an­nual fes­ti­val pro­vides an op­por­tu­nity to show­case At­lantic Cana­dian tal­ent in­clud­ing a strong Cape Bre­ton com­po­nent.

The 500-acre site at Two Rivers Wildlife Park of­fers a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties and ser­vices for fes­ti­val­go­ers in­clud­ing on­site camp­ing, walk­ing trails, fish ponds, wagon rides, pet­ting zoo, can­teen, ob­ser­va­tory and WiFi.

Two Rivers Wildlife Park is lo­cated on the banks of Cape Bre­ton’s Mira River, 28 km out­side of Syd­ney at 4581 Grand Mira North Rd., Hunt­ing­ton.

The camp­grounds have sev­eral ser­viced sites as well as a new vis­i­tors cen­tre with

show­ers and laun­dry fa­cil­i­ties. To book a camp­site at the park call 902-727-2483.


Plenty of peo­ple dropped by last year’s Acous­tic Roots Fes­ti­val at Two Rivers Wildlife Park in Hunt­ing­ton to hear the mu­si­cians per­form. This year’s fes­ti­val takes place Sept. 1-3.
