Free con­cert se­ries to strike the CBRM

SYD­NEY — The re­cently an­nounced Stages & Spa­ces Con­cert Se­ries will high­light parks and gath­er­ing places in the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Mu­nic­i­pal­ity.

“Mu­sic plays an im­por­tant role in the way we gather, re­late and cel­e­brate in our com­mu­nity,” said Joe Costello, CBRM re­cre­ation pro­gram co­or­di­na­tor, who be­lieves the con­certs will bring the com­mu­nity to­gether.

“While many of our com­mu­nity fes­ti­vals may be fin­ished for the year, these con­certs look to ex­tend our sum­mer … and give us an ad­di­tional op­por­tu­nity to come to­gether as res­i­dents dur­ing this Canada 150 year.”

The con­certs will hap­pen ev­ery Fri­day from 6-8 p.m., be­gin­ning Aug. 18 and con­tin­u­ing un­til Sept. 29.

Terry Pe­ters and the Off the Wall Band will start off the se­ries at the S&L Rail­way Mu­seum in Louis­burg on Aug. 18 and The Road­ies will per­form on Aug. 25 on the Grand Nar­rows Water­front.

Full Cir­cle will take the stage at the Min­ers Memo­rial Park in Do­min­ion on Sept. 1, The Road Kings will be at Smelt Brook Park in North Syd­ney on Sept. 8, Al­ter Ego will be at the Town Cen­tre Square in Glace Bay on Sept. 15 and Back in Time will per­form at Rose Schwartz Park in New Water­ford on Sept. 22. Fin­ish­ing off the Stages & Spa­ces Con­cert Se­ries in Syd­ney’s Went­worth Park will be Flash­back on Sept. 29.

All the con­certs are free ad­mis­sion. The con­certs are out­doors so blan­kets and lawn chairs are en­cour­aged. For more in­for­ma­tion, visit the CBRM Face­book site or call 902-563-5510.
