Free concert series to strike the CBRM
SYDNEY — The recently announced Stages & Spaces Concert Series will highlight parks and gathering places in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
“Music plays an important role in the way we gather, relate and celebrate in our community,” said Joe Costello, CBRM recreation program coordinator, who believes the concerts will bring the community together.
“While many of our community festivals may be finished for the year, these concerts look to extend our summer … and give us an additional opportunity to come together as residents during this Canada 150 year.”
The concerts will happen every Friday from 6-8 p.m., beginning Aug. 18 and continuing until Sept. 29.
Terry Peters and the Off the Wall Band will start off the series at the S&L Railway Museum in Louisburg on Aug. 18 and The Roadies will perform on Aug. 25 on the Grand Narrows Waterfront.
Full Circle will take the stage at the Miners Memorial Park in Dominion on Sept. 1, The Road Kings will be at Smelt Brook Park in North Sydney on Sept. 8, Alter Ego will be at the Town Centre Square in Glace Bay on Sept. 15 and Back in Time will perform at Rose Schwartz Park in New Waterford on Sept. 22. Finishing off the Stages & Spaces Concert Series in Sydney’s Wentworth Park will be Flashback on Sept. 29.
All the concerts are free admission. The concerts are outdoors so blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged. For more information, visit the CBRM Facebook site or call 902-563-5510.
