Seniors expo to be held in Glace Bay

-

A variety of information will be made available during a seniors expo later this month.

The expo will be held on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Glace Bay Seniors and Pensioners Club, which is fully accessible. Admission is free.

“Last time we had it was in 2015 and we had a really good turnout with upwards of 250 people,” said Mariah MacKay, volunteer and project co-ordinator for the Citizens Service League at Town House.

“We knew we reached a lot of people and it was a successful event so we wanted to hold another one.”

There will be more than 15 exhibits, presentations, musical entertainment and light refreshments.

MacKay said the expo targets seniors and their caregivers and the objective is to spread information.

“It will feature presentations and resources on healthy aging. Some of exhibits will be related to fitness, housing, recreation, finance management and longterm care,” she said.

“There will be health screenings and pharmacists from Shoppers Drug Mart giving flu shots.”

MacKay said anyone wishing to participate as an exhibitor can contact her at 902-849-1619.
