Paying Tribute
Remembrance Day in Sydney
• A parade to Centre 200 was held Saturday morning. Participants met at the Sydney Shopping Centre parking lot, prior to march off at 9 a.m.
• The Remembrance Day event also featured a special tribute to the vets by the Highland Arts Theatre. The performance included old war songs, first-hand accounts from Canadian vets and selections from the production “Heart of Steel”
• Lt.-Gen. Roméo Dallaire was the keynote speaker at the event, talking about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a condition he was diagnosed with as a direct result of his mission to Rwanda
• About 2,000 people attended the Sydney service
