Cape Power cheerleadi­ng squads reach medal podium in Halifax

Cape Power Cheerleadi­ng teams took home the hardware from Cheer Blast held at Exhibition Park in Halifax, Feb. 3-4.

The Senior 4.2 Spark squad won both first place as well as taking home the division championsh­ip. The Senior 2 Pulse squad also took top spot and was awarded the best dance award at the event.

The Pre-competitiv­e Electrons took second-place honours, as did the Mini Fuse, Junior Energy, Senior 3 Shock and Open 6 Blackout.

The Senior 1 Lightning earned a third-place finish at the event, while the Youth Charge placed fourth.

The Cape Power program also received a new award called the program favourite, which is voted on by all programs in attendance for being the best overall in their levels.

Cape Power has nine teams in its program. Athletes range in age from three to 30.
