Georgia Aileen (Ross) Allen passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.

Affectionately known to her family and friends as ‘Georgie’ she was formerly a resident of Central Court Homes and Allen Drive, North Sydney. Georgia was a lifelong member and supporter of Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Wharton and Alexia ‘Lexie’ (Sutherland) Ross of Centerville, Sydney Mines. She was most happily married to Doug Allen (Allen Ice Company) for 56 years. Georgia was a keen gardener and an avid traveler with her soul mate.

Besides her parents, Georgia was predeceased by her husband, Douglas; brothers, Murdock (Bill) Ross, Allister (Allie) Ross, and sister-in-law, Joyce Carroll.

Georgia is survived by her sister, Lilah (Ross) Sundberg, Florida; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Parsons) Ross, North Sydney, Grace (Kay Thornhill) Ross, Sault Ste Marie, and her nieces and nephews, Bruce (Ingrid) Ross, Kitchener, Patricia (Doug) Slomke, Sault Ste Marie, Carol (Paul) Ross-Bertrand, Toronto, Wayne (Kathleen) Ross, Ottawa, David (Heidi) Ross, Moncton, Prof. Donald Ross, Sydney, Australia, Douglas (Susanne) Ross, Sydney Mines, Brian (Shelley) Ross, Sydney and Brent (Monica) Carroll, Dartmouth.

A special thank you is extended to her friend and former caregiver, Joan Marie Kendall, the staff of Harbourstone and Cedarstone Enhanced Care along with the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Visitation for Georgia will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. to celebrate Georgia’s life with the Rev. John Hannem officiating. Immediately following the service, a reception for family and friends will take place at Central Court at 65 Stanley St. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney, or a charity of one’s choice.
