Memorial High recognizes student athletes

SYDNEY MINES — Memorial Marauders hockey team captain Dovi Walker has been named the Northside high school's male athlete of the year, while Ainslie MacDonald and Julia Lettice are co-winners of the female athlete of the year.

MacDonald, who was named girls volleyball most valuable player, also copped the girls varsity basketball team's Hustle Award, while Lettice was named girls soccer top offensive player and was the recipient of the girls varsity basketball Coach's Award.

Other top female award winners included Christina Thomas (girls varsity basketball MVP), Rory MacInnis (girls varsity soccer top defensive player), Holly Vickers (girls JV basketball most valuable player), Olivia Erickson (girls JV soccer MVP) and Mary Ann Hall (top female golfer).

Other major boys award winners included Colby Skinner (baseball MVP), Hayden Carroll and Mitchell Davis (co-MVP for varsity basketball), Kent Keagan (varsity soccer MVP) and Mitchell Harris and Aaron Young (co-MVP for JV basketball).

Nolan Ryan picked up the top male golfer award, the most improved JV basketball player award and the boys hockey leading scorer award.
