HIGHWAY To Belle
Urban designer Ken Greenberg and landscape architecture firm Public Work are reimagining the area under the western portion of the Gardiner Expressway as a linear park. The raised roadway’s supporting columns and beams will act as partitions along a 1.75-kilometre multi-use trail, carving out space for skating and concerts. Funded by philanthropists Judy and Wil Matthews and managed by Waterfront Toronto, the project is racing to start construction in time for a 2017 opening. UNDERGARDINER.COM
