Amazon, have we got a deal for you

Edmonton Journal - - LETTERS -

City council has announced that the Northlands Coliseum is to be permanently closed.

City taxpayers will be paying annually some $2 million for maintenance and security. Then most likely $8 million-plus will be spent for eventual demolition. No profit will be gained from the building site. It is a burden, but a neat solution is available.

Amazon is looking for a second headquarters and wants a good deal to choose a location. Edmonton would like to be the city selected. The problem is solved. Edmonton could simply give the Coliseum and part of its site to Amazon.

The city would be free of any future financial burden and at the same time would attract a major employer and be put on the map. Thomas Mojelsky, Edmonton
