RCMP say man found dead in ru­ral home was homi­cide vic­tim

A 58-year-old man found dead Sun­day in his ru­ral home is a vic­tim of homi­cide, say RCMP.

Two Hills RCMP, along with the ma­jor crimes unit, were in­ves­ti­gat­ing the slay­ing of James Craig, found inside his ru­ral Elk Point home, po­lice said in a Tues­day news re­lease.

The foren­sic iden­ti­fi­ca­tion sec­tion from the St. Paul RCMP de­tach­ment had also been called in.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion was in its pre­lim­i­nary stages as po­lice pro­cessed the scene at the ru­ral home, about 222 kilo­me­tres east of Ed­mon­ton. An au­topsy was slated for Tues­day in Ed­mon­ton.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors would like to hear from any­one who may have had con­tact with Craig prior to Sun­day, Nov. 12.
