LAKE PLACID, U.S.A.

The 1932 Winter Olympics hosting bid by Lake Placid was led by organizing committee president Godfrey Dewey, whose father, Melvil, invented the Dewey Decimal Classification system for organizing library books.

Due to inclement weather, the four-man bobsled competition was held after the closing ceremonies.

Canada’s medal count rocketed to seven. Apart from a gold in men’s hockey, we claimed silver in men’s speedskating and five bronzes, in speed and figure skating.
