Henday should have been wider
Will the incompetence of the city transportation department ever end? Have they ever thought out more than a year or two when it comes to designing roadways in Edmonton?
The Anthony Henday freeway was crippled from the very beginning when the incompetent design crew decided to have portions only two lanes wide, crippling traffic movement from the getgo. Now those who use the southwest portion on a daily basis can suffer even more crippling rush-hour traffic with construction to add a third lane when it should have been done properly in the first instance.
The idiotic notion that LRT or buses would take traffic off that freeway is laughable. This is a city that was initially designed for motor vehicle traffic. Too bad that concept continues to be ignored. And we wonder why our property taxes climb higher each year. Jim Holowchak, Edmonton
