Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said Wednesday public health officials are working to trace the recent surge of cases in Edmonton.

“At this point, we haven’t identified any one particular area of concern that seems to be driving this new case rise,” said Hinshaw. “If we do identify (an outbreak) our first step would always be, as it has been for many months now, to work collaboratively and to make sure that we’re looking at what are all the things that we can do to limit the spread.”

The Calgary zone currently has 314 active cases. Northern Alberta and central Alberta have 104 and 88 cases, respectively. Southern Alberta has 52 cases. There are currently three cases with no known location.
