Long­time dc Comics edi­tor fired amid sex scan­dal

ber-ganza, an edi­tor for a quar­ter-cen­tury at dc Comics, has been fired, dc en­ter­tain­ment and par­ent com­pany Warner bros. an­nounced mon­day.

“We are com­mit­ted to erad­i­cat­ing ha­rass­ment,” dc Comics said in a state­ment. ber­ganza, who was the dc Comics Group edi­tor, had guided Won­der Woman, Su­per­man and Su­per­girl books, and most re­cently edited the special Dark Knights: Me­tal se­ries.

ber­ganza had re­mained em­ployed at dc de­spite years of al­le­ga­tions against him over un­wanted sex­ual ad­vances and con­tact, re­ported buz­zfeed news.

on Fri­day, buz­zfeed re­ported that two women said ber­ganza had en­gaged in such be­hav­iour more than a decade ago. ber­ganza was pro­moted to a higher edit­ing post in 2010 de­spite com­plaints to hu­man re­sources, but was de­moted just two years later, re­port­edly af­ter an al­leged un­wanted sex­ual ad­vance at a comic con­ven­tion. dc Comics had sus­pended ber­ganza the day af­ter the buz­zfeed news re­port was pub­lished.
